Southwick Ace Keith Johnson embarks on Five Minutes with Fletch.
I feel like I have known Keith my whole life, I pretty much have, or at least as far back as I can remember. Keith Johnson is the man behind the rebirth of Southwick “The Wick” which saw Jett Lawrence and Tom Vialle claim the top stops in their respective classes in 2023. He is also a top racer and has had a professional motocross career which lasted nearly 25 years.
In this episode of Five Minutes with Fletch we talk gating style, plans for Southwick 2024 and recap on VMXdN Foxhill 2023. We take a deep dive into the Over 50 s class (which is one of my favourite races at Foxhill), whose line-up reads like a list of all-time greats including Alessio Chiodi, Doug Dubach, Brian Wheeler and Jocke Karlsson to name a few.
I hope you enjoy the interview.

I caught up with the legendary Dave Thorpe to have a chat about his incredible 2023 season as a team manager, the glory days of the 80s on the track, and his love for representing his country in MXdN. It was like stepping into a time machine and diving into the world of motocross history and I loved every minute of it!

Why is Doug Dubach a legend? Because he has pretty much done it all in Motocross! From been. A large part of the development of the 4 stroke to winning a supercross main event, His extensive relationship with Factory Yamaha to being a privateer, trainer and awesome vet racer.
Doug Dubach is not only a legend, but he is also an all-round nice guy, and I don’t think I have ever seen him without a smile on his face.
I caught up with Doctor Doug Dubach for a chat at the 2023 VMXdN Foxhill event and it turns out he remembers me long before I remembered him!
I hope you enjoy the interview.

Did Mike Brown Survive Five Minutes With Fletch?
Mike Brown won his first professional race in 1994. In 1999, he finished third in the F.I.M. 125cc world championship. He followed that performance with another third place in the 2000 125cc world championship. He has had an incredible motocross career in the States and in Europe.
After his motocross career, Downtown Mike Brown began competing in Endurocross events.[2] He won the inaugural 2009 World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS), becoming the first AMA rider since Mike Kiedrowski to win an AMA National Motocross Championship and a World Off-Road Championship Series title.
Since then, he has competed across the world in vets events winning on many occasions including VMXdN and Loretta Lynns to name but a few!
I caught up with Mike Brown for a chat at the 2023 VMXdN Foxhill event only to be videobombed by another legend!

Five Minutes with Fletch catches up with Pulp MX and former factory motocross mechanic Steve Matthes.
Is this the best episode yet?
I’ll let you decide, but I sure had fun interviewing Steve Matthes.
Before he started the Pulp MX Show, Steve was a mechanic of the likes of Shaun Kalos, Nick Wey and Tim Ferry so has plenty of back-in-the-day stories as well as a vast knowledge of the current affairs in MX.
Find out which is Matthes favourite Pulp MX Show ever, why he owes the rental car company a lot of money and who the favourite American is at VMXdN Foxhill?
There is plenty of laughter, a couple of differing opinions and a little swearing – sorry!
I hope you enjoy the interview.

Following on from the victorious win at VMXdN Foxhill 23 and riding with a broken ankle I caught up with Team GB’s lionheart Mel Pocock.
Former European Champion secured his place on the 2023 team after his first-class performance in 2022 where he stood in for Tommy Searle at the last minute.
Mel is a truly nice guy and a definite favourite with the fans, we talked about Team GB’s performance, who will be on the team in 2024 and how he grips the bars following the brutal injury to his right hand at Hilton Park in 2015.
I hope you enjoy the interview.

That weekend in August was the best weekend of 2023 by far, and I got to spend my VMXdN Foxhill experience with Team USA.
In this week's Five Minutes With Fletch, we return to that epic weekend. I caught up with Tyler Bowers after the first day of racing action onboard the DocWob KX 500. Tyler is a hugely accomplished racer in the States, full of grit, passion, and determination. Having ridden for the legendary Pro Circuit factory squad in his time, he has won Supercross and Arenacross races and was a regular on the podium.
Tyler and I talk about the difference between modern four-strokes and 20-year-old two-strokes, His VMXdN Foxhill Experience and his thoughts on the Foxhill track. We had plenty to discuss, so this one will also have a part two.
I hope you enjoy the interview.

Episode Four is pure MXON vibes!
I caught up with Team GB’s Josh Gilbert ahead of this year's MXON at Ernee.
Josh talked about his thoughts on MXON and riding to represent his country, his move to a 250f cc for the event and racing in France. We recapped his season with the Crendon Fastrack Team and discovered what he would have changed. I tried my best to find out his plans for 2024, but he would not give anything anyway just yet – you can't blame a kid for trying!
I hope you enjoy the interview.

Let’s get into this!
Episode Three and I talk to Kris Keefer from Keefer Inc Testing. I caught up with Kris at VMXdN Foxhill 2023 – what an epic weekend that was.
Kris was super cool and gave me lots of hints and tips about forging a career in MX, what it is like to wear multiple hats in the industry, being a presenter of Pulp MX, writing for RacerX, being a test rider, running Keefer Inc Testing.
We recap his first day at VMXdN Foxhill and discuss the ‘problems’, coming second at Loretta Lynns and battling on the track with Lil Keefer and what it's like to do a five-hour Pulp MX Show – maybe one day it will be Five Hours with Fletch one day not Five Minutes?
We had plenty to talk about – so much so that part two will be coming soon! Make sure you like and subscribe so you don’t miss an episode!

Fresh off his victorious 2023 season, winning the Revo British Championship and the MX Nationals championship, I dive into the world of motocross with Conrad Mewse, as he prepares to represent Team GB for MXON 2023 in the latest episode of Five Minutes with Fletch!
I caught up with Conrad at Hawstone Park for the last round of the MX Nationals, where we took a trip down memory lane. It's hard to believe that it has been ten years since Conrad was crowned the MX85 World Champion and EMX85 European champion - where he beat the likes of Chase Sexton, Hunter Lawrence and Jorge Prado - I was only 1 when that happened! We'll explore how things have evolved for him since then and his thoughts on MXON as he gets ready for his second time representing Team GB.
